I'm Not Afraid
Hello, my name is Darryl M. Ford. I'm honored to be the Network Services Director of WSK Group. This gives me the opportunity that I didn't have in many past ventures where I worked all by myself. This Team has allowed me to dream. I'm not afraid to share ideas, dreams, and resources with others by networking together. With empowerment of the individual and the cooperation of a team, together we will effect change. Now we are positioned to create our own opportunities by networking both within our communities and with linking up with those outside of it.
Networking our resources with one another will build an economic base that nurtures the communities we live in, creating businesses, jobs, and hope for the future of our children. WSK is a tool for working within the system that has isolated us from one another. It is a key to self-confidence, self-esteem, and to financial security. It's also a 'license' to receive help when you need it. WSK is a strong network that connects YOU to opportunity and sets you up for success.
We have all heard the phrase, 'The Family that prays together stays together.' Through WSK, our churches, social clubs, and professional organizations will network together for economic development, so that more of us can rise up and 'succeed together'.
This will prove that God is powerful enough to use us to up lift our community. When we get our congregations to join together, the network of the churches will lead the way. Many African American churches across the country have caught the spirit of self-determination and are focusing as much on economic redemption, as on spiritual redemption, and they are doing it by networking. In many spiritual networks such distinctions as 'who's in and who's out' are not only inappropriate, but highly unacceptable.
Networking works best when we fully understand that there is inherent value in every human being, and every human relationship, regardless of title and position. I believe that the development of WSK is an opportunity for us to redeem our community values. Our network with churches will look at businesses in our communities and make plans to visit them and build a rapport with others. We will define our mission as a people in the community, by taking charge of our own destiny and building up our own communities.
We will serve as role models for the youth of our communities so they will also have a built-in clientele and be encouraged to start a business with confidence. When you network for profit you follow the Asian philosophy in which 'Business is war.' You network for a specific purpose, to make a profit, not just to socialize or have a good time.
Do you have any idea how powerful coming together with the churches, social clubs, and businesses would be in our communities? I know this will change our community, because it will change the people in our community; oh how proud we will be! I have personally tried to operate businesses and have been knocked down many times.
When Harold Lofton asked me to be a part of WSK Group my thoughts were, I've been knocked down but not out. Many of us have had our dreams beaten down. I believe in the WSK Group and it's board members. I feed off of their passions and desire to succeed. I will stand up, and say yes to my dreams, and to a more prosperous life, I'm not afraid.
Sincerely,
Darryl M. Ford
